Green Tea is the most famous of all China’s teas. Prized throughout Asia for its delicate taste and health properties, it has become widely known and available in the West. Eight Treasures carries the most classic of varieties, known in English as Longjing, Long Ching or Dragon Well. All of our Longjing teas are from the West Lake tea plantations near Hangzhou, the most traditional of the Longjing tea growing regions.
Green tea’s gentle, refined taste comes from the minimal process the tea undergoes. The young leaves are handpicked, then quickly dried to minimize oxidation. The resulting tea gives a lightness to the spirit that no other tea can compare to. We include our personal recommendations on how to best brew Longjing Green Tea with each order.

Difference in grades is determined by care when sorting the leaves (removing overly large or small leaves which changes the taste); attention to the drying process; and most importantly, the quality of the bush itself.
Our $20 grade is a simple tea that can be brewed without too much thought, whereas the $80 grade rewards the palate with a delightful array of complex tastes and is our choice for pursuing the Dao through tea.
