Puer Tea is unique in that it must be aged before drinking. Belonging to the categories of red and black tea, it starts being palatable after three to four years and becomes more expensive with each successive year. It has become one of the most fashionable teas in recent years in China as much for a financial investment as for its health properties and strong, earthy taste.
Puer brews out quite dark and can be either sweet or earthy. The sweet variety is less traditional but currently more popular, and the earthy variety is usually preferred by knowledgeable Puer drinkers. The leaves can either be loose or compressed into ‘bricks’ of various sizes and weights. We include our personal recommendations on how to best brew Puer Tea with each order.
