Tieguanyin Tea is most commonly known as Iron Goddess of Mercy or Kuanyin in English. Technically an Wulong variety, authentic Tieguanyin comes from a specific region in Fujian province. Because of its fame among Chinese around the world, much of what is sold abroad is not true Tieguanyin. Eight Treasures sources directly from the tea plantations in Fujian to ensure true Tieguanyin taste.

Tieguanyin’s unmistakable taste on the palate comes from the region where it grows. It has a more ‘green’ flavor than Taiwan Wulongs, sometimes being described as raw or peaty. An excellent tea to be enjoyed simply or as part of the Gongfu Tea Ritual with fragrance and drinking cups. We include our personal recommendations on how to best enjoy your Tieguanyin Tea with each order.

Difference in grades is determined by the size and fame of the tea farm, care in the sorting and processing of the leaves, and most importantly, the quality of the bush itself.

Our $20 grade is a simple tea that can be brewed without too much care, whereas the $80 grade is best enjoyed with ample time and tea utensils for pursing the Dao through tea.
